Good Apps to Have & My Flakiness

     I'm such a flake!

I am SO sorry, you guys! I can't beleive how long it's been since I last posted! I really need to keep up with my weekly posts.

This week I have been thinking about what to post I think that I have finally got it. What is the one object that most kids our age carry with us everywhere?

Our phones! Phones have been proven to be one of the most useful inventions every made. But with power comes great responsibility. Phones have amazing potential. We use them daily to get where we need to go or to communicate with people halfway across the world. But with their power comes distraction and other bad things. People spend over 2 hours on their phones everyday. It's easy to get sucked into their tiny screens. Social media has become one of the most powerful influences on the globe.

What if we treated our scriptures like our phones?

  • what if we carried them with us everywhere?
  • turned back to get it if we forgot it?
  • checked it for messages throughout the day?
  • used it in case of an emergency?
  • spent an hour or more on them a day?
  • used it to guide us?

We should start treating our scriptures as if they were our phones. In fact, we can get the scriptures on our phones! How can we use this simple tool to keep us safe from technology?

One of the easiest solutions is to banish all useless apps, such as videogames. Not only are they distracting, but they take up a ton of space on your phone! Deleting them helps keep you focused and to the point when you use your phone.

If you have a lot of free time and you want to play a game, get some mentally challenging games such as word searches or hangman. These games stretch your brain.

One of the most obvious fixes is to get LDS apps. Surprisingly, there are a lot of them on the Apple Store and Google Play. Just search LDS Apps and they will come up.

Some of the ones that I enjoy using are Doctrinal Mastery by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

This app is great for memorizing scriptures. It lets you quiz yourself, do flashcards, and do memorization games.

Of course, the most important app to have is the Gospel Library App. This app is probably the Holy Grail of the LDS app world. It literally has everything on it. Scriptures, magazines, talks, conference... you name it, it's in there.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I highly recommend downloading these apps. They truly do help you become less distracted and help you use technology in a wholesome way.

My scripture of the week is Article of Faith #13. I welcome you to ponder it and reflect upon yourself.

Happy pondering,

Your Sister
